ON OR BY JUNE 2nd VOTE:

Rashaad Couloote
for Ward 4
"We need leaders who are not afraid to stand up for our human and civil rights. Young people
are historically excluded from the political process, but we have the most at stake."

I am running because all people – and especially young people – in Piscataway deserve to be part of the decisions that impact our futures. Nothing about us without us!

Issues
-
STAND UP TO TRUMP and refuse to let ICE use our township resources to carry out his agenda. We’ll use our power to help our neighbors and keep us safe. No ICE warehouses in Piscataway!
-
END DONOR AND DEVELOPER GIVEAWAYS, like sweetheart PILOT deals and warehouse developments, that drain our school resources and shift Piscataway’s taxes to the rest of us. Enough is enough!
-
MAKE PISCATAWAY AFFORDABLE for working families and seniors by ensuring corporations and billionaires pay their fair share. I will be a local leader for national and state policies, like Medicare for All, that lower costs for us all.
-
STOP YEARLY PROPERTY TAX REVALS that burden working families and undermine housing affordability for homeowners.
-
ENFORCE & EXPAND RENT CONTROL and advocate for tenants’ rights; renters deserve to be heard and have safe, secure homes in our communities.
-
HAVE AN INDEPENDENT ETHICS BOARD so we have real ways to stop nepotism, cronyism and corruption in our local government. For 50 years, Piscataway’s entrenched machine has allowed the Mayor to select the Ethics Board. It’s time to end that loophole.
-
INSTALL SPEED BUMPS to stop speeding and protect our children and pets; adopt other common-sense solutions to local problems that work in other communities.
-
USE EMAIL FOR COUNCIL BUSINESS and be accessible and responsive to all residents. My opponent hides from us, using a generic email address council@piscatwaynj.org and often won’t respond in writing. You deserve an accessible, accountable representative!
-
BE AN INDEPENDENT VOICE for our WARD 4 neighbors and community, and not a rubber stamp for the Mayor’s agenda! Our current
representative has been on the Council for more than 20 years. We still don’t have an Ecological Park, but she made sure that warehouse was built across the street!

About Me
-
I am proud to have grown up in Piscataway. I attended public school in the Township, graduating from Schor Middle School before attending Central Jersey Prep Charter School. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Kean University in 2023 and Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology. After graduating in May 2025, I returned home, with a commitment to use my skills and experience to fight for our community. I work at Kean University as a Support Specialist, instilling career readiness lessons using the Universal Design of Learning Principles. I’m also a contracted Academic Specialist for the Office of Government Affairs and Community Partnerships. I assist the directors and Chief Government Affairs Officer that aid and support the Kean University community, with an emphasis on federal/state/local legislation and its impact.

As a student at Kean, I was very active on campus, including:
-
Serving on the University President’s Advisory Council.

I am running to represent Ward 4 on our Township Council so we have a strong advocate, not a rubber stamp. I believe our government works best when it listens to the people it serves, ensuring every voice is heard and respected.
